An Inside Look at Life in Solitary Confinement

Director Kristi Jacobson joins us to discuss her new film “Solitary: Inside Red Onion State Prison.” Jacobson gained unrestricted access to film inside a supermax prison in Virginia, consisting entirely of solitary confinement cells, for an entire year. There are over 40 supermax facilities across the country largely unknown to most Americans. The film profiles both the inmates and prison workers and shows how the prison has affected their lives.
