An Iranian Story of Young Love in the Midst of Violence

The Leonard Lopate Show | Jan 26, 2017

Writer-director Asghar Farhadi joins us to discuss his latest film, “The Salesman,” which received the 2016 Cannes Film Festival’s Best Screenplay Award and has been nominated for an Oscar as Best Foreign Language Film. After their old flat becomes damaged, Emad and Rana, a young couple living in Tehran, are forced to move into a new apartment. A sudden eruption of violence linked to the previous tenant of their new home dramatically changes the couple’s life, and creates a simmering tension between them.

"The Salesman" opens in New York on Friday, January 27th. For more information, click here.
