Jake Xerxes Fussell at Union Pool
Nov. 29. $18.54. 7PM.

Jake Xerxes Fussell was born to be a folklorist. The North Carolina-based singer and guitarist grew up in a house full of the sounds of old American ballads, fiddle tunes, and folk songs, collected by his folklorist father. In his own records, Jake finds old songs that have modern relevance, and offers simple but often subtly unexpected arrangements of them. And sometimes he writes his own songs, using elements of 19th century fishmonger songs or murder ballads as source material. Jake Xerxes Fussell plays Tuesday night, Nov. 29, at Union Pool in Brooklyn.
