50 Years Later, Re-examining the Murder of Kitty Genovese

The Leonard Lopate Show | Jun 2, 2016

Director James Solomon discusses his  documentary, “The Witness” which reexamines the 1964 murder of Kitty Genovese. The film follows Genovese’s brother, Bill Genovese, who was 16 at the time of her death, as he attempts to uncover the truth behind his sister’s murder, namely the reported fact that “38 witnesses” allegedly stood by and did nothing as she screamed for help outside of her apartment building in Kew Gardens.

Event: "The Witness" opens Friday, June 3rd at the IFC Center (323 Avenue of the Americas).
