The producer known as Jlin is a rare woman in a part of the music world that is still overwhelmingly male. More to the point, she is one of the most adventurous producers on the scene, often using layers of rhythm with spare electronics and samples to create music with an eerie, almost weightless quality. She’s written dance scores and collaborated with musicians from the leading edge of the electronic avant garde. The Gary, Indiana-based producer Jlin plays Saturday night, March 2, at the Whitney Museum, as part of Kevin Beasley: A view of a landscape.
