John Adams Conducts the Juilliard Orchestra

The Pulitzer Prize winning composer John Adams has made his reputation on his operas, like Nixon in China, or the Death of Klinghoffer. He's also written a symphony drawn from the opera Doctor Atomic, his music/theater piece about the Manhattan Project and the first atomic bomb. Adams recast a lot of the dramatic musical material from the opera into a 25 minute orchestral work, which he will conduct. John Adams conducts the Juilliard Orchestra in the Doctor Atomic Symphony, the Brahms Symphony #4, and a work by the terrific Finnish composer Kaija Saariaho Monday night, Dec. 10 at Alice Tully Hall.
