We’re so accustomed to seeing Jon Batiste on stage with Stephen Colbert as the bandleader for The Late Show that we sometimes forget what a formidable musician he is. Jazz, funk, R & B, even classical music – he plays it all. He will be a guest of the similarly versatile composer and musician Terence Blanchard for a special one-time program called Diaspora Songs, celebrating the influence of African music on American culture. Jon Batiste plays in Terence Blanchard’s Diaspora Songs tonight at Carnegie’s Zankel Hall.
