Jonathan Coulton: Smoking Monkey Album Night at City Winery
Jan. 24. $30-$45. 8PM

Jonathan Coulton is that rare musician who’s as comfortable writing music for NPR as he is for Spongebob Squarepants. Coulton was essentially the one-man house band for NPR’s show Ask Me Another, and his songs are an unlikely combination of melody, humor, and tech nerdery. Before becoming a professional songwriter, Coulton wrote software. His song, “All This Time,” is part of an album called Solid State, which is essentially a concept album about just how far off the rails this whole Internet thing has gone. Jonathan Coulton brings his songs about mad scientists, IKEA, and smoking monkeys to City Winery on Wed., Jan. 24.
