Julia Holter is a singer and composer from LA whose work draws on rock and on contemporary classical music. In fact, her album Tragedy, based on a Euripides play, has been staged as an opera. Her latest album, Aviary, is full of ornate, orchestral rock, with lyrics that, as Julia Holter puts it, reflect “the cacophony of the mind in a melting world.” A response of disasters both natural and manmade, Aviary is the beautiful sound of things falling apart.  

Julia Holter plays Friday night, Feb. 22 at Warsaw in Brooklyn, with the excellent Montreal-based violinist and looper, Jessica Moss.
