How do we keep America’s schools safe? That’s the question students and lawmakers are asking following last week’s shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. President Trump has suggested arming teachers, while other schools have implemented measures like security cameras and metal detectors. 

But what do the facts say about school safety measures that have already implemented? What other strategies have been discussed? What can keep students safe, and what can actually hurt students even more?
