How to Spot Fake Food, from Sawdust Cheese to Artificial Crab Meat
The Leonard Lopate Show | Jul 5, 2016
Journalist Larry Olmsted takes us inside the unregulated food industry in his book Real Food/Fake Food: Why You Don't Know What You're Eating and What You Can Do About It. Olmsted talks about what foods to avoid -- Parmesan cheese filled with sawdust, fake lobster meat, deceptive labeling on olive oil --  and travels to the sources of the real stuff to help us recognize what to look for, eat and enjoy. Â
Events: Larry Olmsted will be at R. J. Julia Booksellers (768 Boston Post Rd. Madison, CT) on Wednesday, July 13 at 7 p.m.
On Thursday, July 21 at 7 p.m., he'll be speaking and signing books at the Barnes & Noble on the Upper West Side (2289 Broadway at 82nd St.).Â
