The First Ladies Who've Shaped the Presidency

First ladies have always played a key role in public relations and communication. Political scientist Lauren Wright looks at how that role has changed over the course of our nation’s history in her book,  On Behalf of the President: Presidential Spouses and White House Communications Strategy Today. She also analyzes every documented speech made by a first lady since 1992.
