Lawsuit: ICE Has Secret 'No Release' Policy for New York Detainees

A new class action lawsuit on behalf of detained immigrants alleges that Immigration and Customs Enforcement's New York office has a secret "no-release policy." The lawsuit from Bronx Defenders and the New York Civil Liberties Union says that the government secretly eliminated the option for ICE officers to recommend release. An ICE spokeswoman said immigration judges can still grant bond — though that's often weeks after an arrest.
