The Legacy of the Black Creek Nation

The Creek Nation has had a complicated relationship with its Black members. The tribe once enslaved Black people, but later recognized Black Creeks as full members of the Nation. That changed in the 1970s when the rights of Black Creeks were revoked by tribal leaders.
