Back in 2010, the West African kora player Ballake Sissoko and the French cellist Vincent Segal redefined what ā€œChamber Musicā€ could be. Now theyā€™ve expanded to a quartet, with accordion player Vincent Peirani and sax player Emile Parisien. Their new album is called Les Egares ā€“ those who stray ā€“ an appropriate name for a group that refuses to stay in its lane. Chamber music, French chanson, West African folk, and jazz all mix freely in an independent poetic territory where the ear is king.Ā The Sissoko/Segal/Peirani/Parisien Quartet makes their US debut on March 23Ā at Joeā€™s Pub.Ā
