Everest Is Nothing Compared to Meru

Husband and wife directors Jimmy Chin and Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi discuss their new documentary "Meru." The Shark's Fin summit on Mount Meru sits 21,000 feet above the Ganges River in Northern India. The mountain's perversely stacked obstacles make it both a nightmare and an irresistible calling for some of the world's toughest climbers, including Jimmy Chin and his two lifelong friends, who twice attempted to climb The Shark’s Fin. . What was meant to be a seven-day trip with the equivalent amount of food became a 20-day odyssey in sub-zero temperatures. The film opens August 14th at Lincoln Plaza Cinemas and the Angelika Film Center.
