Living Both Sides of Abuse, And Choosing Neither

Radio Rookies | Sep 21, 2015

In producing the series "Crushed: Teens and Dating Abuse," Radio Rookies staff hoped to work on a story with someone who had been an abuser in a relationship, to explore what drove their behaviors. Then they came upon this thoughtful essay from the magazine Represent, by and for youth in foster care, featuring one young woman's reflection on her journey from victim to abuser. Listen to her tell her story, or check out her complete essay here.

Credits: The original essay was edited by Virginia Vitzthum of Youth Communication, which publishes Represent. It was adapted for the air by Kaari Pitkin of Radio Rookies.

Radio Rookies would like to thank Day One and The Door, our partner organizations for this series.
