Staring Down the Nor'easter Into Wednesday Evening
Updated: 3:00 p.m.
This fourth nor'easter in three weeks could be the worst yet.
The National Weather Service says a Winter Storm Warming will remain in effect until 6 a.m. Thursday morning, as snow accumulation hits 12 to 16 inches overnight. Wind gusts are expected to hit 40 mph.Â

Still, some New Yorkers managed to take time to enjoy the snowstorm. Lt. Brian O'Sullivan, 37, had the day off from work at FDNY Ladder 9 in the East Village, so he spent it in Washington Square Park building a snowman with his three-year-old son, Rory.
"I have my little man with me, so that's the beauty of that job," said O'Sullivan.
Some of the city's furrier residents were also having a ball. Stacy Alldredge, 50, brought her 1 1/2-year-old dog, Callie, to a dog run to let loose. Alldredge said it's not surprising that the snow is one of her pup's favorite things, since Callie is part husky.
"She's just happy to be out here, playing in the snow, looking for possibly a treat someone may have dropped," Alldredge said.

But the snow has also left many New York City residents struggling to get to work. Duane Givean, 37, lives in public housing at the Chelsea-Eliot Houses in Manhattan. He works at a warehouse in Queens, but said his boss told him not to bother coming in to work because of the snow. For Givean, that's not a snow day—it's a day without pay.
"I guess I'll just sit around here all day. Stick around here and do nothing. Look at the snow, I guess," Givean said.
Metro-North Railroad is operating on a reduced to hourly schedule today, and Long Island Railroad warns that service could be suspended if snow accumulation reaches over 10 inches. NJ Transit rails are also running on a reduced schedule, although bus and light rail services will operate as usual as long as weather permits. Tickets will be cross-honored across NJ Transit and PATH for the day.
JFK, LaGuardia and Newark airports are reporting hundreds of delayed flights at each location. All travelers are advised to check their flight status before arriving at the airport.
