Love Fame Tragedy is the name of a solo project by Matthew “Murph” Murphy, frontman of the indie-pop band The Wombats. Actually, it’s Murph plus a bunch of guests, including members of The Pixies, Alt-J, The Killers, and Soundgarden. But the Love Fame Tragedy sound is definitely Murph’s own – full of ridiculously catchy choruses and unexpected turns of phrase. Take the name of the record, for example; it’s called I Don’t Want To Play The Victim, But I'm Really Good At It. Love Fame Tragedy plays Wed. night, Sept. 25, at Rough Trade, Thurs. night, Sept. 26, at Mercury Lounge, and Thursday afternoon in our studio.
