Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor at Lincoln Center Plaza, Sept. 2, 8PM
and by New York City Opera at Bryant Park, Sept. 2, 7PM.
Someone must really, really want you to go to the opera on Friday, Sept. 2. Because there are not one but two free performances of Lucia di Lammermoor, Donizetti’s tale of star-crossed Scottish lovers which has one of the most famous mad scenes in all of opera. There’s an HD screening of the Met’s production Friday, Sept. 2 at 8PM at Lincoln Center Plaza, but there’s also a live picnic performance by New York City Opera at Bryant Park at 7PM, with food service starting at 4:30. Decisions, decisions. Go for the Met’s full production on screen at 8, or the abridged live version at Bryant Park at 7?
