M³ Festival: Zeena Parkins at Roulette

Harp player Zeena Parkins reached a mass audience through her work with Bjork, but she’s also been a mainstay of New York’s downtown experimental music scene. Often playing an electric harp with lots of effects, Parkins has reimagined what the harp can sound like. She’s one of the headliners in this year’s M3 Festival; M3 stands for Mutual Mentorship for Musicians, and is an annual event that highlights musicians from historically underrepresented groups, including women. Zeena Parkins plays a solo set on Oct. 25 as part of the M3 Festival, which includes Kavita Shah, Linda May-Han Oh and others and runs Oct. 25 and Oct. 26 at Roulette.
