MAMADY & MAMADY (of the Mandingo Ambassadors) at Barbès
Thurs., Nov. 25. $20. 8PM.

Mamady Kouyate is a griot-guitarist from the West African nation of Guinea, where his career stretches back to the great dance bands of the 70s. In 2005, Kouyate, now based in New York, founded this group, the Mandingo Ambassadors. And in 2008, they started playing Wednesday nights at the club Barbès in Park Slope. But Kouyate has also created a Thanksgiving tradition – each year he teams up with another émigré guitarist, his childhood friend Mamady Kouruma for a series of duos. On Thursday, Nov. 25, Mamady Kouyate and Mamady Kouruma, do their annual Thanksgiving show at Barbès in Brooklyn. In addition to the live audience the show will be live streamed as well.
