Manchester Orchestra is neither an orchestra nor a group from Manchester. They’re a rock band from Atlanta, but they do have almost orchestral ambitions when it comes to their songs. Their latest album, A Million Masks Of God, is a sweeping, cinematic collection that loosely tells the story of a person looking back over a life that’s coming to an end. The theme – of life, loss and death – is big, and so is the band’s sound. Manchester Orchestra plays tomorrow night at the Manchester Orchestra at Hammerstein Ballroom. 

The songwriters of Manchester Orchestra, Andy Hull and Robert McDowell, played some stripped-down and intimate arrangements remotely, in May 2021 for the podcast.
