The husband and wife fiddle team of Mark and Maggie O’Connor play everything from Beethoven to bluegrass. In fact, their concert program, done with the Vega String Quartet, is called “Beethoven and Bluegrass.” For decades, Mark O’Connor has moved easily between the world’s of American folk music and the Western classical canon; his Appalachian-themed records with famed cellist Yo Yo Ma and bassist Edgar Meyer have been both critical and commercial successes. His most well-known piece may be the popular title track to the record Appalachia Waltz. Mark O’Connor, Maggie O’Connor, and the Vega Quartet play April 25 at Carnegie’s Zankel Hall.
