Mark Stewart and Polygraph Lounge at Roulette
April 4. 8PM. $25-30.
What’s happened to America’s sense of humor? In the middle of the 20th century this country made stars of musical comedians like Spike Jones and hit records out of Stan Freberg’s musical parodies. But now? Maybe we just take music too seriously, as do Mark Stewart and Rob Schwimmer. And as the Polygraph Lounge, they want you to learn your music history, whether you like it or not. Of course they prefer if you like it, so their music history lesson goes from Stravinsky to the Beatles in a head-spinning swirl of virtuosic fun. Polygraph Lounge plays Tuesday, April 4, at Roulette, and the duo’s Mark Stewart will start the show with a new work for altered guitar and live audience by Banglewood composer Erich Barganier.
