The Vision Festival, now in its 23^rd year, is an annual celebration of improvised music, known especially for its offerings of free jazz and the field’s more experimental branch. Friday, May 25, the Festival presents a four-hour event that includes dance and poetry, and culminates in the work of the brilliant, cerebral, and variable pianist Matthew Shipp who unveils a new piece for sextet tonight at Roulette.
