In her songs, the artist Melanie Charles explores soul, jazz, and occasionally Haitian roots music. Her album The Girl With The Green Shoes quickly established her as a favorite of jazz fans and critics, but she’s also worked with the experimental drummer and producer Kassa Overall, plays the flute in addition to singing, and has covered Neil Young. Melanie Charles plays two live sets on Wed., May 26 at the Sultan Room in Bushwick. Only the early show still has tickets.
