This Is Merry Clayton via Spotify (Playlist)

Merry Clayton, everybody! December 25th is the birthday of the great singer Merry Clayton. Now, you may not know her name – although she is one of the stars of the award-winning documentary 20 Feet From Stardom – but you’ve almost certainly heard her voice. She’s sung on so many hits – Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Sweet Home Alabama,” Joe Cocker’s “Feeling All Right,” and of course, her incredible solo turn on the Rolling Stones song, “Gimme Shelter.” There are rumors of new music coming soon – sparked by the appearance of this Merry Clayton playlist on Spotify.
