Micachu is the stage name of English musician Mica Levi--the mastermind behind experimental pop group Micachu and the Shapes. Levi allows the avant-garde to be accessible by using hand-made instruments (occasionally vacuums) and hip-hop rhythms to create textural indie playgrounds. The trio's newest record Good Bad Happy Sad comes after Levi had taken time out to write the fittingly disturbing (and ultimately award-winning) score for the 2013 sci-fi film Under the Skin. Good Bad Happy Sad is a brave and swaggering collection of grimy, industrial, yet positively catchy tunes, and the band will play a few of them for us in the studio.
