Milwaukee's Incarceration Experiment

Jeffrey Toobin, staff writer for The New Yorker, CNN legal analyst, and author of The Oath: the Obama White House and the Supreme Court (Anchor, 2013), talks about a years-long study in Wisconsin that examined the racial imbalance in Wisconsin prisons. The conclusions of the study prompted the Milwaukee DA’s office to adopt new diversion initiatives to send fewer people to prison. 

Nicholas Turner, president of The Vera Institute of Justice, offers insight into the Vera Institute study which highlighted the problem in Milwaukee, and Manhattan district attorney Cyrus Vance talks about how the study can be applied locally.
