How Mothers Fight Sex Trafficking in the U.S.

The Leonard Lopate Show | Feb 7, 2017

Director/writer Mary Mazzio joins us to discuss her documentary, “I Am Jane Doe,” along with Carol Robles-Román, the former Deputy Mayor for Legal Affairs and Counsel to Mayor Bloomberg and the first woman to lead the city's efforts to combat domestic violence and human trafficking through the creation of Family Justice Centers. Narrated by Jessica Chastain, the film chronicles the battle being waged by several American mothers whose under-age daughters have been bought and sold for sex through the adult classifieds section of Backpage.com, formerly the Adult Classifieds section of the Village Voice. The mother of one of the young women involved in the case also joins the conversation.
