MTA Opens Second Vaccination Site for Employees

New York's transit agency has opened a second vaccination site just for its workforce, one that's been hit hard by COVID-19. 

Since just last month, 17 MTA workers have died from COVID. That makes a total of 148 MTA deaths to date, the most of any agency in the city. 

MTA workers are eligible for the vaccine at state and city sites, but now the agency is making the vaccine available to its employees at its offices in downtown Brooklyn.

So far, just 15 percent of the agency's 70,000 employees have been vaccinated.

With the new site, the MTA hopes to administer up to 300 shots a day.

Officials say they also want to administer the vaccine to workers in train yards and depots, but doesn’t have a timeline for when that might happen.
