For this New Sounds, hear music for voices, music for strings, and music for voices and strings. Listen to the eight precise voices of the group Roomful of Teeth from their recent, “Render,” performing “Ascendant” by Australian-born Wally Gunn. It’s a three-part work, drawing on three poems by Maria Zajkowski. Also, hear several songs in Icelandic, including music by Yann Tiersen and the band, Árstíðir. Then, there’s music from the film score by Harry Escot, “The Face of an Angel.” Plus, music for strings and voices by the English composer and vocalist Donna McKevitt, and more.
