Singer and activist Natu Camara is from the West African nation of Guinea, and divides her time between there and here in New York. She was part of the first female hip hop band in West Africa, called Ideal Black Girls, but her own music draws more from the African pop sounds of singers like Baaba Maal and funk bands like Fela Kuti’s Africa 70. Natu Camara and her band bring their high energy show to this year’s River To River Festival, which continues the Juneteenth Celebration. The West African singer and her band will perform June 17 in the concluding concert of the River to River Festival, in Rockefeller Park at Battery Park City.
