#3714: New Music from Ireland Part 2
John Schaefer travels to Ireland and brings back some music for a series of episodes dedicated to Irish composers. In this second episode, John talks to jazz composer Ronan Guilfoyle about his classical, jazz, Irish, and South Indian musical influences. Hear pieces of his collaborations with the European Saxophone Ensemble and Khanda. Learn about the differences he's discovered between jazz and classical musicians' relationships with rhythm. Later in the hour, listen to John's conversation with Grainne Mulvey about a key founding figure of the contemporary Irish music scene, and Mulvey's own compositions for piano.Â
