The New Sounds Live concert series returns to Brookfield Place for two nights of music by Steve Reich, as performed by Ensemble Signal on October 15 and 16. Tuesday, Oct. 15 starts with John Schaefer in conversation with Steve Reich and features Ensemble Signal & Brad Lubman, Music Director, performing Reich’s masterwork Music for 18 Musicians. The work is "a magical shifting masterpiece of American minimalism where winds, strings, pianos, and percussion meld in ever-changing combinations, propelled by an irresistible pulsation." (Havlik, 2008) Then, Wednesday, October 16 features Piano Phase, My Name Is, Four Organs, and New York Counterpoint.

Both concerts are free, and will be recorded for later broadcast on New Sounds with John Schaefer.
