New Sounds Live: Hub New Music at Kaufman Music Center

For their recent tenth anniversary, the group known as Hub New Music has put together a program they call Hub Mix Tape. It includes works written for the quartet by composers Nico Muhly, Tyshawn Sorey, Angélica Negrón, and others. Negrón’s work, for Hub’s combination of flute, clarinet, violin and cello, also includes field recordings from her trips to Puerto Rico. It’s called “Pedazos intermittentes de un lugar ya fragmento,” or “Intermittent Fragments of a Fractured Place.” Hub New Music celebrates their 10^th anniversary in a New Sounds Live concert on Dec. 5 at Kaufman Music Center’s Merkin Hall.
