Recent research shows that pregnancy related health risks persist for a full year after childbirth itself, such as postpartum depression. The New York City Council recently passed a package of bills addressing disparities in maternal mental health. Â
Councilmember Linda Lee, who is the chair of the committee on mental health, disabilities, and addiction, spoke to WNYC's Sean Carlson more about what some new mothers face after childbirth and what the city is doing about it.Â
