New York Latin Live: Yasser Tejeda at Elsewhere
July 14. $65. Doors at 6:30PM. 16+
The singer and guitarist Yasser Tejeda is from the Dominican Republic, and now lives and works here in New York. He’s explored the African roots of Dominican music over the course of several albums, and his most recent record, La Madruga, incorporates the sounds of Haitian rhythms, West African funk and Congolese guitar playing as well. The result is a reflection of the many tangled lines that bind together the music on both sides of the Atlantic. Yasser Tejeda and his band play Friday, July 14, with Afro Dominicano and Riccie Oriach at Elsewhere in Brooklyn.
