Nigeria's Political Satire Goes Prime Time

New Yorker staff writer Adrian Chen discusses his latest piece titled, “The Comedy Caucus.” He traces the development of the first season of The Other News, Nigeria’s first prime-time political-satire show. Chen reports from a tiny studio in Lagos with patchy Internet and no running water, where a team of collaborators, including five Nigerian writers, a Nigerian host, an American former Daily Show writer and an American producer, continue the long-standing democratic tradition of satire as a “weapon of wit.”
