Swiss pianist and composer Nik Bärtsch makes what he calls Ritual Groove Music. It grows out of his study of jazz improvisation, the rhythmic patterns of Minimalism, and the discipline of martial arts. And just as martial arts students go to a dojo, Bärtsch is running what he calls the Montags music dojo in a club in Zurich. Montags simply means Mondays, and each Monday brings a workshop and a concert.
