NJ Gym Owner Sentenced To Prison for January 6th Riot

WNYC News | Nov 10, 2021

A New Jersey gym owner who pleaded guilty to assaulting an officer during the January 6th capitol riot was sentenced to 41 months in prison today.

Scott Fairlamb, of Sussex County, was one of the first rioters to enter the Capitol. In videos of the riot released by prosecutors, the former mixed martial arts fighter is seen wearing a camouflage jacket and carrying a police baton. He shoves, punches, and curses at an officer.

This is the stiffest January 6th sentence handed out so far.

Fairlamb, whose brother is a Secret Service agent once assigned to Michelle Obama, expressed remorse and took responsibility in court. Fairlamb's wife has raised $30,000 for him through an online fundraiser for a so-called Patriot Relief Fund.
