No Criminal Charges for Cop in Eric Garner Case
The Brian Lehrer Show | Dec 4, 2014
Our coverage of the Eric Garner grand jury decision and protests continues. Witness testimony and other documents the Staten Island grand jury considered have not been released, and US Attorney General Eric Holder has announced a civil rights investigation into the Garner case. Thousands of demonstrators took the streets from Midtown to Staten Island to protest the decision not to indict NYPD officer Daniel Pantaleo.
- Then: we go through the details of the case -- from the chokehold to the grand jury's deliberations -- with a legal analyst and an expert on policing. We're joined by professor of law and police science (and former police officer and prosecutor) at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, Eugene O'Donnell, and legal analyst for Al-Jazeera America, Jami Floyd.
