NYC Launches Three New Summer Programs For Youth

Mayor de Blasio says the city is launching three new programs to keep kids engaged as school winds down.

The programs are called NeOn Summer, Each One Teach One, and Community Rapid Crisis Response Initiative in partnership with the city's Young Men's Initiative.

Together they'll serve 3,300 young people with a focus on enrolling kids from neighborhoods hardest hit by COVID-19. Teens can earn stipends for creating social distancing PSAs or helping with coronavirus relief efforts.

The mayor also says he'll be making an announcement about plans to restore some of the city's vast Summer Youth Employment Program soon. He had eliminated funding for the program this spring, but says he's working the city council now to revive it.
