
New York's Public Housing Faces Federal Takeover Threat

Conditions in New York City Housing Authority's buildings have worsened over the years to the point where it's possible the federal government could take it over. That's what's at stake on Thursday, which is the deadline imposed by a federal judge for the city, federal prosecutors and the Department of Housing and Urban Development to reach an agreement over how to fix New York City's public housing system. WNYC’s Mirela Iverac joined Jami Floyd to discuss what might happen to NYCHA and its 400,000 residents.
