One Family, '17 Blocks' from the Capitol Building

All Of It with Alison Stewart | Feb 24, 2021

Washington DC has some of the worst poverty rates in the nation. In the shadow of our government's most powerful institutions, crime and gun violence abound. But statistics are not enough to tell this story. "17 Blocks" is a documentary that follows the Sanford-Durrant family, who live just 17 blocks behind the Capitol building. The film spans two decades of this family's history, and provides an intimate look into how poverty, drugs and violence have impacted their lives. Director Davy Rothbart joins us.
