Orquesta Aragón at Lehman Center
April 29. $53+up. 8PM

The Cuban band known as Orquesta Aragón was founded in 1939 by a carpenter named Orestes Aragon, who also played the bass. They’re a charanga-style band, with flute and violin as lead instruments, and for a while, they were considered the finest practitioners of the dance known as the cha-cha-cha. Over the years, the lineup has turned over and musical styles have changed, but Orquesta Aragón keeps alive the elegant sounds of classic Cuban dance music of the mid-20th century. Orquesta Aragón is on a US tour, and comes to the Bronx on Sat., April 29 for a show at the Lehman Center for the Performing Arts.
