Richard Haass' New Foreign Policy

The Leonard Lopate Show | Apr 18, 2017

Richard Haass, president of the Council on Foreign Relations, joins us to discuss his new book, A World in Disarray: American Foreign Policy and the Crisis of the Old Order. Haass served as the senior Middle East adviser to President George H.W. Bush and as Director of the Policy Planning Staff under Secretary of State Colin Powell. He argues that the old rules around foreign policy no longer hold up. Haass outlines how the U.S. should operate in a world where borders are fluid and the idea of sovereignty is being undermined.
