John Hockenberry and Our #MeToo Moment
Suki Kim, writer and the author of Without You, There Is No Us: Undercover Among the Sons of North Korea's Elite (Broadway Books, 2015), and WNYC reporter Ilya Marritz talk about allegations of harassment and bullying at WNYC by John Hockenberry, the former host of The Takeaway. Kim first reported the story for The Cut, where she detailed several accounts from former interns, producers and co-hosts on their experiences being harassed and bullied by Hockenberry. Marritz also reported the story for WNYC and found that Hockenberry's under performance as a host was another factor in the station's decision to not renew his contract.
"I personally think workplaces should have very little tolerance for bullying and power tripping, not to mention of course sexual harassment... Further, I am literally ashamed to be a man when I hear of so many of these things, almost always committed by men." -@BrianLehrer @WNYC

"Women shouldn't live in fear. Let them do their job. All they wanted to do was work at WNYC." - @sukisworld on the @BrianLehrer show this morning.

"WNYC isn't saying who made that decision or how they made that decision," says @ilyamarritz on the station not renewing John Hockenberry's contract
