Hana Elion and JJ Mitchell make music under the name Overcoats. Their songs are a deceptive mix of modern electronic production and simple, often old-fashioned harmonies. They’ve just released their second album, The Fight, whose message of perseverance is suddenly more relevant than ever. Thursday night, Overcoats are curating a streaming music festival here in NY to support the city’s Association To Benefit Children. The lineup includes such gifted singer/songwriters as Margaret Glaspy and Torres. Overcoats themselves have been doing Friday night performances on Instagram Live, so they’ll have worked up some stripped down versions of songs like this for the occasion.
